Apple’s first wave included the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, China, India, Japan, France and Germany. A launch date establishes when sales began in a market; current color, capacity, pickup and delivery availability still depend on the seller and location. These dates come from Apple’s announcement.
The folding body and two displays
The body uses a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, Ceramic Shield 2 at the front and Ceramic Shield at the back. Night Sky and Star White are the two finishes. The hinge also supports partly folded positions for compatible camera, video and StandBy layouts. Apple’s product overview shows these positions.

Apple rates the device IP68 under controlled testing, at up to 6 meters for 30 minutes. Resistance can decrease with wear, and liquid damage is excluded from Apple’s limited warranty. Its handling instructions also say to keep grit away from the hinge, remove objects before folding and leave the inner screen’s nano-texture cover in place. Adding a screen protector can affect display performance.
A20 Pro, cameras and connections
Apple’s product page lists an A20 Pro chip with a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU and vapor-chamber cooling.
Rear: 48MP main and 48MP ultra-wide cameras. Sensor-derived 2x optical-quality zoom uses the main camera. Outside: 12MP Center Stage camera. Inside: under-display FaceTime camera. Main video: up to 4K Dolby Vision at 120 fps. See camera specifications.
Duo Preview lets someone being photographed see the framing on the outer display. With the phone open, the rear cameras can also take a selfie using that screen as the viewfinder. Smart Take can automatically capture a posing session while the device is stable, taking up to 20 photos over a couple of minutes. These modes use the folding layout for different shooting arrangements.
Apple’s product page lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. USB 3 transfers reach up to 10 Gb/s with a compatible 10Gb/s USB 3 cable. Apple’s cellular tables list sub-6 GHz and mmWave 5G for U.S. model A3447; check the actual regional model and carrier.
Battery life and charging conditions
Apple uses two batteries as one power system. Its claims distinguish typical mixed use from continuous video playback. The battery testing notes explain the usage profile, including equal inner- and outer-display use for the typical-use figure.
| Workload | Apple claim |
|---|---|
| Typical use, equal use of both displays | Up to 24 hours |
| Video playback, outer display | Up to 44 hours |
| Video playback, inner display | Up to 31 hours |
Source: Apple’s product page and battery test notes. The 44-hour video figure does not describe ordinary mixed-use battery life. Network, settings, apps and display use affect results.
Apple claims up to 50% charge in around 20 minutes using a 60W-capable USB-C cable and power adapter, or around 30 minutes using MagSafe with a 35W-or-higher adapter. Its charging footnotes describe tests with drained, open devices; settings, use and conditions affect actual times. MagSafe and Qi2 support up to 25W. A USB-C charge cable is included; power adapters and MagSafe chargers are sold separately.
Storage versions, prices and regional model numbers
Storage capacity, regional hardware model and iOS version identify different things. For example, 512GB describes storage, A3447 identifies a regional hardware model, and iOS 27.2 describes installed software.
| Storage | Price |
|---|---|
| 256GB | $1,999 |
| 512GB | $2,199 |
| 1TB | $2,599 |
| 2TB | $3,199 |
These are Apple’s U.S. prices for the Connect on your own later option, before tax, wireless service or optional accessories. Trade-ins, financing and carrier promotions have separate eligibility and payment terms. Check the selected configuration at checkout.
| Model | Countries and regions |
|---|---|
| A3447 | United States and Puerto Rico |
| A3719 | Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and U.S. Virgin Islands |
| A3721 | China mainland |
| A3720 | Other countries and regions |

Launch iOS, current iOS and app versions

| Milestone | Version | Date and evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Retail launch software | iOS 27.1 | October 23, 2026; Apple’s launch-software statement. |
| Current public iOS | iOS 27.2 | Released October 26, 2026; Apple’s security release notice. |
| Published iOS 27.2 build records | 24B91020 and 24B119 | Both dated October 26 in Apple’s developer release catalog. |
Apple’s current security releases page identifies 27.2 as the latest public iOS on the review date. The two catalog build records do not establish which build belongs to every regional handset; check the installed version and build on the actual device. A beta or release candidate is a separate status from a public release.
How apps use the inner display
The SDK used to build an app affects its layout. Updating iOS does not itself rebuild every installed app. Apple’s Duo preparation guide describes three cases:
| App built with | Documented behavior |
|---|---|
| iOS 26 SDK or earlier | Compatibility layout with unused space around the inner-screen window. |
| iOS 27 SDK | Expands across most of the inner screen, avoiding its status-bar area. |
| iOS 27.1 SDK or later | Full-display layouts and adapted vertical bars, subject to the app’s layout implementation. |
Supported apps can run beside each other in Split View, and supported multi-window apps can open two views of the same app. StandBy and camera interfaces also adapt to folded positions. Apple’s October feature overview illustrates these uses; individual app support still matters.
iOS 27.2 features and regional limits
Apple’s update notes describe expanded Siri AI conversation and personal-context features, Messages suggestions, fixes and security updates. They also state that Siri AI is unavailable in the EU and China mainland. Language, region and feature-specific eligibility apply, and some Apple Intelligence features have usage limits. Separately, Shortcuts in 27.2 adds an automation trigger for opening or closing iPhone Duo.
Apple Pencil compatibility
Apple’s compatibility document, updated October 27, lists iPhone Duo for Apple Pencil (USB-C), sold separately. Apple’s pairing guide explains cable pairing and charging and excludes other Pencil models. That documentation does not specify the enabling iOS release, so this guide does not assign a launch-day or version-specific start date. Check current compatibility and installed software before buying the USB-C Pencil for Duo.
U.S. carrier availability
AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon each announced October 16 preorders and October 23 availability. The table lists verified U.S. purchase options; other carriers and resellers may have different activation and inventory arrangements.

eSIM, unlocked purchases, travel and iPhone Handoff
Duo is eSIM-only, supports two active eSIMs and stores eight or more (Apple’s specifications). In Dual SIM use, there can be two numbers but only one cellular data network at a time. Plans from different carriers require an unlocked phone. Call handling on the second line also depends on Wi-Fi Calling support and settings.
Apple’s buying FAQ says its direct purchases are generally unlocked, with exceptions for AT&T Installment Plan, T-Mobile Equipment Installment Plan and Verizon Device Payment Program financing, which lock the phone until paid in full. Verify the selected arrangement rather than assuming every Apple checkout option has the same lock status.
For travel, Apple’s eSIM guidance says to check Carrier Lock for No SIM Restrictions before adding another provider’s plan. Keeping a home line active can still generate roaming charges. Confirm destination eSIM eligibility and the imported model’s bands; Apple also states that an eSIM from a carrier in China mainland cannot be used on an iPhone purchased outside China mainland.
Which carriers support Handoff
iPhone Handoff moves active service between two eligible iPhones using one number. Apple’s support list checked November 3 names T-Mobile in the U.S., Telekom in Germany and EE in the UK. Verizon’s announcement describes Handoff as coming soon. The checked sources establish no current AT&T support or Verizon activation date.
Apple requires iOS 27 or later on both phones, a supporting carrier eSIM, Wi-Fi, the same Apple Account and the required Messages in iCloud, FaceTime and iMessage sign-ins. Only one phone is active on the network at a time. Carrier enrollment fees may apply. With Dual SIM, both carriers must support Handoff and both lines move together. Apple Watch pairing does not automatically transfer to the other iPhone, and third-party app synchronization follows each app’s own behavior. Review the full setup requirements before relying on the feature.
